In Memory

Charlene Palshis (Boehm)

Charlene Ann Boehm

February 12, 1952 - December 24, 2019

Charlene Ann Boehm, 67, of Oswego, IL and formerly of Elgin, IL passed away peacefully on December 24, 2019 at Delnor Community Hospital after a four year long battle with cancer.  Charlene was born February 12, 1952 in Cicero, IL the daughter of William and Dolores Palshis.  She was united in marriage to Douglas Boehm on August 26, 1972 in Algonquin, IL.

Charlene Boehm lived her life in an active, passionate, and faithful manner.  Her many joys included family, friends, neighbors, and church.  She was a woman of strong principles and believed in showing them through actions not just words.  Education was important to her, so she was very proud to be the first female in her family to graduate college when she achieved a Bachelors of Science from Northern Illinois University.  She carried this passion of learning to her work life when she taught math at Hoffman Estates High School, Gifford Street High School, and finished up at South Elgin High School.  However, she spent the bulk of her career as a software developer and project manager at AT&T Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies.

Throughout her life, walking with Christ and contributing to his work were also of central importance.  She was a long-time member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL, where she was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and was active with church council & leadership committees. When she moved to Oswego, IL, she continued her commitment to serving God at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, IL.  There she served on the church council for 8 years including president for part of that tenure.  She also participated in personnel committee, outreach committee, and most recently served as chairwoman of the pastoral call committee.

Last, but not least, was her belief that family and friends are paramount.  She was always willing to listen and help others.  She loved traveling, going to baseball games, and going to social dinners.  She was truly blessed to have developed so many meaningful relationships and life-long friends.  We will all miss her dearly, but her spirit will live on through us.

Charlene is survived by her loving husband of over 47 years, Douglas Boehm; two daughters, Jillian (Alan Krzesinski) Boehm and Lisa (Brandon) Sterenchuk; three grandchildren, Madeline, Colin and Olivia Sterenchuk;  her mother, Dolores Palshis;  one sister, Bonnie Palshis; one brother, Randy (Beverly) Lawson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Palshis and her brother, Michael Palshis.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL 60510.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 South Lincoln St., Batavia, IL 60510.  She will lie in state at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.   Interment will be held privately.

Oh Char - I am so saddened to hear of your passing. You and Bonnie were the first

people I met when I moved to 142 Mora Road in Carpentersville and  you lived across

the street. We had some good times. I'm so glad I found you on Facebook and was

able to re-connect.  I hate that I won't get to see you at the 50th reunion. RIP
